• I'm in the middle of evaluating the various popular CMS packages. There are so many CMS packages out there one could literally drown in them. I was surprised when I saw the list, numbering in the dozens. 2008.02.21 -- Joomla is history. Drupal made the final cut here.
• SMF (Simple Machines Forum) appears to be one of the best freely available forums. vBulletin is supposedly the best forum of the commercial world, but I'm not ready to shell out $160 quite yet.
• I've also added a MediaWiki instance called "PackWiki" which has info about my backpack collection. The list is pretty complete, but I need to flesh out the articles. For those who don't know, MediaWiki is the software that powers Wikipedia.Org.
• 2008.02.21 -- I added a WordPress PackBlog today. Woohoo!
• 2008.07.15 -- The site has been moved from Midphase to Slicehost, where I will have much more control over the configuration and stability of the site. It will be faster, but without nearly as much storage space. Oh well, one can't have everything. Thanks to Midphase.Com for providing good service these past years. Of course, for the amount of storage and bandwidth I didn't use, they got the sweeter end of the deal. I didn't so much outgrow shared hosting, but it cramped my style in other ways I guess. There are now three domains on one slice, and they all load lightning fast.
• 2008.12 -- Site moved BACK TO DREAMHOST -- yay! They finally got their act together and the performance of their shared hosting is 10 times better. Thanks to Slicehost.Com for getting us through a rough patch there. But Dreamhost unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage space is hard to turn down. Plus they have a great home-grown hosting management app.
